December 17th, 2003
Wednesday, December 17th, 2003So it’s the middle of winter, darkness falls early, and the Towjammerz team is busy as a beehive. Say what??
Yep, behind the scenes, this is a busy time of year for the Towjam crew. So busy, in fact, that I’ve been long overdue to develop this first of what will be a regular section on our website. So with a break in the action, I thought I’d bore you with a little TowJam in print.
First, we’d like to thank you for all your support this holiday season: the letters, cards, well wishes, donations, etc., all are appreciated. You can be comforted knowing your non-deductible donations are supporting a great cause, namely helping return my ill grandfather (insert Mastercraft X-Star) to Canada from Bosnia (insert Florida) where he’s been on a human rights (insert phat wakeboarding) mission. We’re told he’s weary, but in good spirits. So please, keep those donations coming in, or at the very least, rent or lease a boat this summer!!
So much for my early attempts at humor on the site – they will get better, I promise. Put it this way, our boats are a whole lot better than my humor.
So you may be asking, where’d this whole Towjammerz concept originate? Well then I’ll tell ya. I take you back to a dreary week in January 2003, to a nice little city in the eastern U.S., our previous home. My day job at the time (more on that in future N & V columns) was becoming increasingly stressful, and I increasingly burned out, nearing the crossroads of change. Having completed a particularly long day, I retired early, and had one of those eternal sleeps, where one awakens many hours later, with no concept of time, no sense of fatigue or morning hangover (no, there was no liquor involved). Now dreams for me, like many folks, are not uncommon – and usually, though vivid during sleep, quickly distance themselves from memory upon awakening. But this morning, and this dream, was different. Though I didn’t remember the intricacies of the dream itself, as I awakened, the concept of the business, of the new career, was in full Technicolor, in crisp detail. The concept was quickly transferred from memory to paper as soon as I recognized that this was more, at least more to me, than the average pipe dream.
And so it was, the idea was born. Though it’s been molded and shaped since then, and will continue to morph into something undoubtedly different than it’s present form, it remains my dream come reality. And so as my boating dream has become reality, we at TowJammerZ hope we can help transform your boating dream into reality – give us a try.
In this season of celebration, the staff of TowJammerz, and the Pullin family, wish you a healthy, happy, and most importantly, a safe holiday season. We encourage you to reach for your dreams, while keeping your feet firmly planted. And finally, we hope for your well being throughout 2004 and beyond. Talk to you in the new year!
