Spring 2006

Thursday, May 25th, 2006

Alright folks, you can relax now, spring is finally here. Seems like a long time since last boating season, no? As you can imagine, we’re busy. The boats have the itch, so we’ve started to scatch it: interior refurbishing, fibreglass buffing, carpet cleaning, all that good stuff. They sure look nice, and they appreciate the attention after a long winter indoors, so we don’t mind the work at all. Here’s hoping they won’t complain too much when they’re run hard and occassionally put away wet this summer!

After a couple boat shows in Calgary in early February, I was ready for a break. We had our largest booth to date at the Telus Convention Centre show, and interest in our product was high. Our new black and red custom Mastercraft X-Star (the one and only) with 4 tower speakers and gobs of accessories, was there, as well as two other Mastercrafts. In addition to our veritable rental and timeshare products, we were also promoting our new fractional ownership program. See the dedicated webpage for further information. Many of you will find this to be our most interesting, and pertinent, product to date- call us for more info if interested!

After the Telus show, I was back in Calgary the following weekend for the big show at the Roundup Centre, working the Mastercraft sales booth. Talk about a layout! It’s a virtual shoe-in that this will win Mastercraft’s top boat show display award at dealer training next December- those that were there can attest to the impressive nature of the display, not to mention the new Mastercrafts! That said, don’t forget, folks, we’re now your on-the-Shuswap source for new Mastercrafts, and can supply you with any boat on their impressive playlist- including the all-new X-2, X-15, and X-30. Don’t wait long, though, because the boat show turnout (throughout North America) makes it a virtual lock that all production slots for ‘06 will fill long before peak boating season arrives. The Mastercraft product is that impressive, and as I’ve said before, they run as good as they look.

Good news on the rental front: no pricing changes for 2006! Yes, in spite of rising oil (and fibreglass) prices, we’ve held the line on prices for this year. We’ve added our most impressive boat to date, the new X-Star, to Group C of the timeshare fleet, and still held the line on timeshare pricing! We’re nuts, and you’re the benefactors!! We’ve also simplified timeshare by reducing the number of “color weeks” from seven to four, and added a points system to simplify calculations, and add flexibility to move among boat groups and color weeks seemlessly. In some cases, timeshare pricing has actually fallen this year as a result. One thing’s for sure: customer interest has not! As summer approaches, keep in mind that we’re still your source for watersports equipment large and small, for sale or to rent. We continue to carry what we believe is the best wakeboard tower on the market, produced by the great folks at 13th Floor manufacturing. Once you see it, and use it, we think you’ll agree. If your boat needs to make some beautiful music, we’ve got the audio products from Clarion Canada to make it happen. And beginning this year, if you need a great new pair of sandals or lost your sunglasses during that last dive off the houseboat’s upper deck (I did that once, too), we’ve got you covered. With all these changes, the one thing that stays the same, is our award winning (that’s our prediction, someday) service, with a smile. If it came from us, it’s got to be right. If it’s not, we want to know- y’know? So whatever your needs this boating season, come see us, or give us a call. We’re willing to bet you’ll be glad you did- many others were!

Next on the event calendar, Kelowna’s in-water boat show at the Kelowna Yacht Club, April 22nd - 23rd. This has become one of our favorite weekends of the season, with a laid back ambience, and (cross our fingers) wonderful weather. We’ll be in our usual spot, dryland on the north side of the clubhouse. Come join us for a burger and a beer- and pick up that tower you’ve been wanting for so long!

Thanks for suffering through another edition of news and views, otherwise known among my medical colleagues by that other “N&V”, Nausea and Vomiting!! So until next we see you, drive safe, and think boating.
